Optical Module TEC (OMTEC)
The optical module TEC uses thermoelectric (semiconductor) cooling technology to actively regulate the temperature of optical module components. The OMTEC consists of a thermoelectric cooler (TEC) chip, cold-side substrate, ultra-soft thermal pad, and mounting clips. When the TEC module is powered, one side of the semiconductor chip cools while the other side heats. The cold is conducted via the cold-side substrate into the optical module, while the heat is conducted through the thermal pad to the module housing and dissipated into the surrounding environment.
